Here, every experience will provide you with a fascinating journey into the past and current living culture, and will also contribute to our research and conservation initiatives, as well as to local development. Guided tours
Immerse yourself in the history and fascinating discoveries through guided tours where experts, including Quirino Olivera, Director of Montegrande, will share about the history and research of the Marañón culture that inhabited the region, as well as what Huaca Montegrande was used for.
Montegrande offers the opportunity to receive visitors interested in exploring its archaeological center. From school visits and institutional groups to tourist excursions, Montegrande guarantees a unique and unforgettable visit.
ASICAMPE, the organization in charge of the archaeological research, organizes some official experiences that will be published on this page. These include:

Workshops and lectures

These conferences, both virtual and face-to-face, represent an exceptional opportunity to delve into fascinating topics and ask questions of the experts. In addition, your participation contributes to the sustainability of our archaeological research.


Residences
If you are a student or researcher in archaeology, anthropology or education, we invite you to live a unique experience at Huaca Montegrande. Access archaeological resources and collaborate with experts in the field. Develop your projects in an inspiring environment and contribute to the preservation of our cultural heritage.
If your field of study focuses on Amazonian civilizations and their impact on the history of Peru, as well as if you have an interest in supporting the local community around Montegrande, we invite you to participate in these internship residencies.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of experts, gain valuable knowledge and make meaningful connections.

Cacao Alchemy in Northern Peru

This transformative women’s retreat is an official trip organized by the Association for Scientific Research in the Peruvian Amazon (ASICAMPE), in collaboration with Tikay by Yllari and Fluir Valle Viajes.
By joining this 8-day, 7-night adventure, you will directly support ASICAMPE's groundbreaking archaeological research at Huaca Montegrande, a 5,500-year-old spiral-shaped temple that is reshaping our understanding of Amazonian cultures and the origin of cacao.

Renacer al origen amazónico
del cacao nativo
Inmersión de cacao y chocolatería
con Renato Gordillo
Esta inmersión en el norte del Perú, inicia en la espiral Montegrande, en Jaen- Cajamarca, donde hace más de 5,300 años los antiguos Marañón domesticaron el cacao. Y así, haremos un reconocimiento del cacao nativo en los cacaotales mismos donde aprenderemos todo desde el árbol: variedades, selección, proceso de fermentación de la mano de Don Oscar y Don Noe.
En esta inmersión nos acompañará Renato de Gordillo creador de Renacer Chocolatier, quien será nuestro maestro de chocolatería: del grano a la chocoteja.
