Welcome to the Montegrande Archaeological Center! Here, every experience will provide you with a fascinating journey into the past and current living culture, and will also contribute to our research and conservation initiatives, as well as to local development. If you are planning a trip to the region and would like to visit the huaca, please send us an email to experiencias@huacamontegrande.org.
ASICAMPE complies with the regulations of Peru’s regulatory authorities. Our priority is scientific research, so the site is not generally open to the public. Visits may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis and require prior approval and coordination at least two weeks in advance.The maximum capacity is 25 people per visit.

Guided visits
Immerse yourself in the history of the Marañón culture through guided tours led by experts, who will share the findings and research that help us understand who inhabited this region and what the purpose of the Huaca Montegrande was.
Montegrande welcomes, by prior arrangement, educational institutions, institutional groups, researchers, and small groups interested in learning about the site from a cultural and educational perspective.
The visit lasts 30 minutes - 1 hour.
All visits must be scheduled in advance. To arrange your visit, please write to experiencias@huacamontegrande.org, where you will receive the visitor guidelines.
Please note that when we are in an active phase of research and excavation, Huaca Montegrande is closed to the public.
Workshops and lectures
Get hands-on in our theoretical and practical workshops or participate in lectures with leading researchers (one of them being the director of Huaca Montegrande) who will share their most recent research and findings and the stories behind them.
These conferences, both virtual and face-to-face, represent an exceptional opportunity to delve into fascinating topics and ask questions of the experts. In addition, your participation contributes to the sustainability of our archaeological research.

If you are a student or researcher in archaeology, anthropology or education, we invite you to live a unique experience at Huaca Montegrande. Access archaeological resources and collaborate with experts in the field. Develop your projects in an inspiring environment and contribute to the preservation of our cultural heritage.
If your field of study focuses on Amazonian civilizations and their impact on the history of Peru, as well as if you have an interest in supporting the local community around Montegrande, we invite you to participate in these internship residencies.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of experts, gain valuable knowledge and make meaningful connections.

Immersive Tourism
Managed by Tikay By Yllari and Fluir Valle Viajes, partner organizations of ASICAMPE, in support of archaeological research.
Learn about the history of Montegrande Huaca, its local and global significance, and take part in experiences centered around cacao, including its production, conservation, and social impact on local communities in the region.
Please note that when the project is in an active phase of research and archaeological excavation, Montegrande Huaca will be closed to the public and access will be very limited. Please arrange your experiential tourism experience in advance by writing to experiencias@huacamontegrande.org.
1. Full-Day Experience in Jaén
An immersive full-day experience in Jaén, offering the opportunity to explore Huaca Montegrande through a guided tour and complement the visit with cultural and culinary experiences from the region. Connect with the region’s history, archaeology, and living culture through hands-on experiences. The program includes:

2. 4–5 Days of History, Culture & Cacao
Enjoy an immersive 4- or 5-day experience in Jaén and its surrounding areas. Explore Huaca Montegrande through a guided visit and complement your journey with cultural and culinary experiences, while discovering ancient cacao trees in the region and other archaeological sites associated with the Marañón Culture. This experience offers an up-close and hands-on connection with the region’s history, archaeology, and living culture.

3. Cacao Bloom in Northern Peru - Official Retreat
An annual 9-day holistic retreat in Amazonas and Jaén, designed for women: a journey of reconnection, renewal, and remembrance, guided by the wisdom of cacao, the ancestral knowledge of the Marañón, Chachapoyas, and Awajún cultures, the rhythms of the Upper Amazon, and the energy of its sacred places.
Through immersive experiences, wellness practices, and shared spaces for reflection, participants become part of a circle of women who support and hold space for one another. A journey to reconnect with oneself, nature, and the ancestral memory of the land through stillness, presence, and deep connection.
